Dr. Verena Streitferdt participated as the policy expert in the second workshop on Thailand, organised the 2nd workshop on Energy Efficiency (EE) Financing Mechanisms and Innovative Possibilities to Accelerate EE investments in ASEAN’ which was organized by The ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) in collaboration with the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE), from the 25th to the 28th of March 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. The workshop was attended by eight (8) ASEAN Member States: Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Further, representatives of Private Financing Advisory Network (PFAN), Bank of the Philippine Islands, Thailand Refrigeration and Air conditioning NAMA (RAC- NAMA), EU Switch ASIA Facility, Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) and ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE);

Verena presented the results of the development of an EU-Switch Asia proposal focused on ESCO support and further discussions around the possibility of EE insurance schemes in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. Finally, she provided further policy advise to the EE finance mechanisms that were presented by the AMS.

Next steps will be to provide a workshop report and prepare the final report which should summarize the innovative financing mechanisms developed under this JAIF funded project
