Dr. Verena Streitferdt supported the Access for Sustainable Energy (ASEP) programme to conduct a CEO Forum on Financing Government Energy Efficiency Projects on the 31st of May in Manila, Philippines. The in April 2019 passed the Energy Conservation Act calls out for Government Financial institutions (GFIs) to provide funds and incentive to promote the Energy Efficiency goals. Therefore, ASEP held this forum to spark discussions on needs and possibilities within the public building sector .The workshop was attended by about 170 participants coming from public building CEO managers, national and international financial institutions and government authorities. The discussions focused around challenges in procurement regulations to allow for multiple year contracts and include EE in the bidding process, as well as possible bottlenecks of public institutions to secure the funds for implementation. Besides supporting the content of the programme, Verena also moderated two sessions related to EE finance mechanisms and private sector initiatives.
